17) Record Label Research- EMI



EMI Music is one of the world’s leading music companies, home to some of the most successful and best known recording artists.
EMI traces its history back to the very beginnings of recorded sound and music as one of their original companies was founded by the inventor of the gramophone, Emile Berliner.



Main Divisions:
Angel, Astralwerks, Blue Note, Capitol, Capitol Latin, Capitol Nashville, EMI Classics, EMI CMG, EMI Records, EMI Records Nashville, Manhattan, Mute, Parlophone and Virgin.

  1. Same as the others. Shows a list of artists that are signed to the label and the minor labels it owns. Also has a background summary of the label.

    Could add an image of the label logo and of an artist that is signed to the label.

  2. Good work. Make sure all the writing is in your own words and not copied and pasted directly from the company website without referencing. http://www.emimusic.com/about/ it may seem like a minor thing now, but if you do this at university you will be severely penalized.

    The reason we've asked you to look at the different record companies is to see how different labels, or imprints of the bigger labels cater to specific genres of music. You mention Capitol Nashville as an imprint of EMI. Does it cater to a specific genre? http://www.capitolnashville.com/

    What imprint (or smaller label) would your artist sign up with? You will have to include their logo on your final album cover and advert.
